Technically, Abigail was born on November 11th, 1744. The calenders changed, so it is now November 23rd. I celebrate it on the 11th because my birthday is tomorrow, the 12th, and I like to think I’m somehow connected to her. I digress as I am off the point. It is Abigail’s birthday. I wish I had more time to write… perhaps tonight. She is an amazing person who inspires me everyday. She was one of America’s most influential and talented writers.

These are the times in which a genius would wish to live. It is not in the still calm of life, or the repose of a pacific station, that great characters are formed. The habits of a vigorous mind are formed in contending with difficulties. Great necessities call out great virtues. When a mind is raised, and animated by scenes that engage the heart, then those qualities which would otherwise lay dormant, wake into life and form the character of the hero and the statesman.

My bursting heart must find vent at my pen.

Well, knowledge is a fine thing, and mother Eve thought so; but she smarted so severely for hers, that most of her daughters have been afraid of it since.
