The Chicago Tribune Literary Prize for lifetime acheivement has been awarded to Massachusetts resident David McCullough. His popular works include John Adams, Truman, and The Great Bridge. Congratulations, Mr. McCullough! He certainly deserves it.

Also, the Heartland Prize (awarded by the Chicago Tribune) goes to Gary Wills for his book Head and Heart: American Christianities. I haven’t read it yet, but I am currently reading his fabulous biography of the writer Henry Adams.

Read more here. The winners will speak at the Chicago Humanities Festival on November 2nd.
